  1. well . . . ihave tried these steps to fix problem on my canon MP 648 but, it doesn't work. . . .

  2. For those of you who are unable to resolve the issue after following the instructions, it is likely that your printer will need repair.

  3. Error 6a80 I had a locked print head that was stuck on the right side – I was about to toss the entire printer. I cut a stiff piece of flat thin plastic from a fruit container – about inch wide by four inches long. I slid it under the print head and moved it forward and then to the back a few times. I powered it up and everything works!

Everybody try this first since it is so simple

  4. It worked on my Canon MX700. Print head was traveling all the way to left but not stuck. Error MSG kept appearing till I followed this advice. Thanks.

  5. This worked, thanks so much. I just want to note that I had to manually push the ink away from the right side and use paper towels/q-tips with rubbing alcohol to clean away all the ink that had built up. Mostly on the right side (A white piece)

  6. Yes yes yes! I have no idea how this worked but it did. I spent ages trying to get that white tray to move and it just wouldn’t pushing the plastic under it and wiggling it around did the job. Thanks heaps.

  7. I am amazed – it worked! Thank you very much – a few ink stained fingers is better than the cost of a new printer!

  8. Canon deliberitly built in this error code and malfuction problem so that after a few thousand copies the printer would crash. It would encourage a user to scrap the printer and buy a new one. IMO

  9. DOCTOR, YOU ARE BRILLIANT, i HAD AN EXPERT SORTING OUT MY ANDROID, AND I MENTIONED THE FAULT AND HE COMMENTED THAT THE PRINTER WAS NOT WORTH REPAIRING WITH THE FAULT 6A80, AFTER HE LEFT I CARRIED OUT YOUR INSTRUCTIONS AND HEY HO THE PRINTER WORKS, THANKS A LOT.

  10. MANY THANKS TO DOCTOR PRINTERLUV.
I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM (SUPPORT CODE 6A80) WITH MY CANON MG5250 PRINTER. MOVED THE PRINTER HEADS FROM RIGHT TO LEFT A FEW TIMES WITH THE HANDLE OF A PLASTIC SPOON AND THE PRINTER STARTED WORKING. THESE USER FORUMS ARE SO HELPFUL.

  11. Just had this happen with my old Pixma 870. The reset button workaround did not work. So, I used a piece of thin cardboard. That didn’t work either. So, a cut a wider one and did the back and forth and then the reset button routine.

    Voilà!
