Laptop Battery Icon shows “Plugged In, Not Charging”

Problem

You laptop shows that the charger is plugged in but also states that it is not charging.

Cause

The ACPI-Compliant Control method batter driver settings may have become corrupt.

Solution

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Expand the “Batteries” section.
  3. Right click on “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery”  and click “Uninstall”.
Do NOT check the delete driver/software checkbox.
  4. Once that has uninstalled, on the top menu click Action > Scan for hardware changes.
  5. It should then re-install the ACPI control driver

The computer battery icon should now read that it is plugged in and charging. If this is not the case please consult your manufacturer as you may have a faulty battery.
