The speech engine returned the following error: 164 when opening Dragon

Problem

When opening Dragon NaturallySpeaking, the following error appears:
“The speech engine returned the following error: 164”

Cause

The Dragon profile you are trying to use is corrupted and no longer useable.

Solution

Delete the corrupted account & create a new account by following the steps below:

1. Launch Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
2. Click on Profile.
3. Click on Manage User Profiles.
4. Delete the account that no longer works.
5. Click new & create your new account.
