Websites show blank/white pages in Internet Explorer

Problem

When you run Internet Explorer, no websites are shown. All you can see is a blank white page.

Cause

Internet Explorer is trying to use graphics acceleration which may not be advisable for your graphics card.

Solution

  1. Make sure Internet Explorer is close.
  2. Press the Windows key + R.
  3. Type inetcpl.cpl and press Enter to bring up Internet Options.
  4. Click the Advanced tab.
  5. In the list, under Accelerated graphics, check the “Use software rendering…” option (screenshot).
  6. Click OK.

Websites should now display when you use Internet Explorer.

  1. Thanks, your tip did it.

IE10 deinstall, resetting options.. none of those worked, only flash ads would show up. Now everything’s fine again 🙂

  2. It didn’t’ work. I restored to an earlier date, still no good. I did a restore from a acronis backup. That worked but I lost too much info. I should have backed up again. I did not think the “white page” would recur. Any suggestions?
