Duplicate MacBook screen on to an external monitor

Follow these instructions with the monitor connected:
  1. Click the Apple icon in the top left of the screen.
  2. Click System Preferences.
  3. Click on Displays, on the second line.
  4. Click the Arrangement tab.
  5. Check the “Mirror Displays” checkbox in the bottom left of the window.

  1. Thanks. I would like to bring the apple lid down and have only the images not the monitor. Does anybody how to do that?

    1. You can do this but your mac needs to be connected to the power supply. When you close the lid, the screen will be on the external monitor
